Man charged with drug crime after New Jersey car accident

|

Drug charges are extremely serious and could result in a severe penalty if a person is convicted. Speaking with an experienced criminal defense attorney might be a wise decision for anyone who is accused of a drug crime in New Jersey.

A man in New Jersey was arrested Sunday and charged with drug crimes after the man was involved in a car accident. According to a report, State Police arrested the man after they say they found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia on the floor of his car after the accident. He now faces one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and paraphernalia.

When someone is charged with a drug crime they could face more than just penalties that might come if they are convicted. They might be forced to explain to future employers why they have a criminal record, and could risk losing custody of their children if they have a shared custody agreement.

In addition to having to explain to future employers they might be fired from their current job. An experienced New Jersey criminal defense attorney can help a person understand their rights and ensure they have a fair trial.

Sometimes during and investigation, arrest or questioning after a person is arrested, police will say or do things that aren't in line with policies and procedures for law enforcement, and might violate the rights of the accused person. An attorney can be with the person during questioning to help ensure their rights are preserved and work to maintain their innocence.
