New Jersey man accused of involvement in drug ring

|

On June 6, it was reported that a 36-year-old New Jersey man was indicted on federal charges after he was accused of providing a large-scale drug trafficking with heroin and cocaine. Additionally, the indictment also accused the man of conspiring to distribute the drugs throughout the state of New Jersey.

It was believed that the man supplied a drug trafficking organization with drugs between October 2013 and March 2014. Packages of heroin and cocaine were reportedly shipped from co-conspirators in California. Once the drugs reached New Jersey, they were sent to a home located in Perth Amboy. At this point, the accused man allegedly took them to different stash houses in Long Branch and Asbury Park, where they were then packaged for sale. He allegedly paid for the drugs using multiple third-party bank accounts.

The man was ultimately taken into police custody on March 20, 2014. He was charged with numerous offenses, including conspiracy to distribute cocaine and heroin, possession with potent to distribute both cocaine and heroin, possession of a firearm while committing other crimes and obtaining money while engaging in an illegal activity. A conviction on the conspiracy charge could result in a maximum of life in prison and a $10 million fine.

The selling of cocaine and heroin is taken very seriously by federal and state authorities. Those who face these types of charges may wish to speak with a criminal defense attorney as quickly as possible in order to devise a strategy to use prior to or at trial. This could include an investigation into whether the search that resulted in a seizure of the drugs was constitutionally permissible.
