Man arrested in New Jersey courthouse for drug charges

|

A man making an appearance in court today was arrested unexpectedly. He went to a courthouse in New Jersey and was arrested on drug charges, unrelated to the reason for his appearance. He now remains in jail and his bail was set at $300,000.

The charges he is facing are extremely serious. He must now work to form a criminal defense against charges of possession of cocaine over five ounces with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Although no more details about his arrest were given, it is likely he will need a solid criminal defense to avoid a harsh penalty. If someone is facing drug charges, they would be wise to consult with an experienced New Jersey criminal defense attorney to make sure their rights aren't violated.

When facing serious drug charges such as the man in this case, it is important to make sure that all of your rights are preserved and police don't try to get you to answer questions that might incriminate yourself. A good defense attorney will be able to advise you on what information you should or have to provide to investigators.

They can also work hard to protect your reputation. Many times media stories rely solely on information gathered from police reports, which would always weigh in favor of the prosecution. Since drug charges are generally perceived as serious to the public, they are more likely to be picked up by the media, causing sometimes irreversible damage to a person's reputation before they even have a fair trial.
